Chair of Continuing Professional Development Committee. The Canadian Society for Immigration Consultants (CSIC) is responsible for regulating the activities of immigration consultants. The Society's mandate is to protect the consumer.

I was an elected member and have sat on the Board since July 2006. Member Director on following committees - Governance, Committee Chair Education & Standards, Committee Chair of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and Nominations. Accomplishment during this period was organizing the first annual Continuing Professional Development Conference on behalf of CSIC and was Chair of the CPD Conference which was held in Toronto on May 11 and 12, 2007 at the Royal York Hotel. It was attended by 700 consultants, with guest speakers Stephen Lewis and Ralph Nader.

September 2007 to the present Director of CMI (Canadian Migration Institute) CMI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants. It was incorporated under the Canada Business Incorporations Act on Sept 7, 2007. It is an education, accreditation and advocacy body for Immigration Consultants. My role was as Chair of the Education and Accreditation Committee from September 2007 until September 2008. I was responsible for the organization of Continuing Professional Development Conferences for the members.

1991 to 2001
Organization for Professional Immigration Consultants OPIC Non-Profit organization - one of the founding Directors and Executive (Secretary) Chair of Membership Committee and responsible for expanding membership over a 10 year period. I was a Director and Executive of the Organization of Professional Immigration Consultants (OPIC). Our mission was to create a national organization to promote, consistent with the public interest, the progress and development of the Immigration consulting industry. It is our mandate to project to government, clients and the general public, an image that demonstrates the highest standards of integrity and competence.

CONSULTING EXPERIENCE

August 1986 to present Dawn Moore International Consultants Ltd. incorporated 1986 until present Owner and Immigration Consultant of Immigration Company specializing in Canadian immigration law. I have worked abroad with my company in Taiwan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, the U.K. and Germany. I established a company in Hong Kong and was involved in joint ventures in other countries throughout Asia. Joint venture with the law firm of Smith, Lyons and worked with their offices in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Much of my practice at present is devoted to working with companies in Canada with branch offices and subsidiaries around the world. My company specializes in employment and permanent residence matters on behalf of companies and individuals interested in moving to Canada, either temporarily or permanently.

I am also versed in the immigration matters for the United States and the U.K.,

One of my main accomplishments was to establish an immigration program in Korea by negotiating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Korea to allow for the emigration of Korean Nationals who were skilled workers. I was the first contract in Korea for this type of immigration to Ontario and established this in 1987. I was also successful in obtaining the business contract for entrepreneurs and investors at this time as well.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT EXPERIENCE

November 1972 to July 1986
Citizenship and Immigration Canada - Federal Government Immigration Counsellor / Officer (1977-1986)
Involved with several Special Projects for the Canadian Government - I established the Entrepreneur / Investor Program for Ontario at the downtown Toronto Immigration Centre. Was responsible in setting up this program and implementing a system to monitor immigration to Canada under this category.

Worked at the Regional Headquarters in the Settlement area and was responsible for administering the Boat People Project in Ontario. Was involved with Third Party Groups - NGO and Church Groups to sponsor the refugees coming to Ontario. Responsible for the placement of a large group of refugees over a couple year period and the subsequent monitoring of their establishment in Canada.

Worked as an Enforcement Officer for a one- year period in the Toronto downtown office of Canadian Immigration - responsible for the enforcing of the Immigration Laws and the apprehension of criminals and persons illegally in Canada. Worked closely with other enforcement agencies.

Worked as a Special Inquiry Officer at Pearson International Airport from 1972 until 1977. Was responsible for the interviewing of persons entering Canada and their admission or the preparation of reports to cause person to either be detained and to be found inadmissible to Canada. Was responsible for the conducting of Special Inquiries to determine persons admissibility to Canada or their subsequent deportation.
